Also sometimes called a modern design style, minimalist designs are all about simplicity, neutrality and clean lines. Think Mad Men. This style utilizes natural textures like marble, wood and metal as interest pieces. Instead of using lots of colors, minimalist design uses a neutral color palette in contrasting colors and shades.

Keep your main color palette neutral, adding in cool tones as accents. Think greys, blacks, whites, and navy with lighter blues/greens and browns to highlight.

• Built-in Shelving: De-clutter and de-stress by building your furniture directly into the wall! These are a perfect way to bring some clean lines into your space.
• Barn Doors: Make a major design statement with large barn doors. If you like a dark color, try opting for a large window to avoid looking too heavy.
• Large Windows: A possible downside of a minimalist design is the dark colors weighing down your space, adding a large window brings in natural light and helps the space to feel open.
